Listen
I hear the birds singing in the morning
They're singing right outside my door
I hear the birds singing in the morning
And I know what they're singing for.
They're singing for the birth of a brand new morning
For the sun and all the leafy trees
For all the rivers and hills
And all the daffodils
And it sounds just like Modeh Ani.
Modeh ani l'fanecha
Melech chai v'kayam
Sh'hechezarta bee, Nishmatee
B'chemlah, rabbah emunatecha.*
Down on the farm there's a little rooster crowing
He sings his song right at the break of dawn
And in the jungle there's a lion that's a'rise'n
And with a roar he starts to sing along.
They're singing for the birth of a brand new morning
For the sun and all the leafy trees
For all the rivers and hills
And all the daffodils
And it sounds just like Modeh Ani ...
*Thanking I am before you, living and eternal King, for You have restored my soul
within me; abundant is Your faithfulness!
